This one will be decently short because from what we've seen, Shidou is a very chill guy. His first trial/song is "Throw Down" and his second trial/song is "Triage". Spoilers ahead.

Shidou is a 29-year-old man who is also a doctor. He is also prisoner 5. We are told that he is a doctor, and so we go into his first trial knowing that he is, in fact, a doctor.

The first trial has a lot of imagery with flowers and him telling the family of presumably patients that their loved one had died. The people who created the video made a very a intentional decision to have a very 3d animated scene of Shidou taking different flowers and putting them into a bigger flower body. My initial theory after watching his first trial was that he enjoyed telling the family that their loved one had passed away. That did change over time, especially after seeing his second trial.

His second trial was very different, and it showed more of his personal life--he had a wife and kids. I say "had" intentionally as the video and his interrogation questions all point to that they had died in a car accident. "Triage" was a very personal view of Shidou, and it endeared him to the viewer even more.

He also took care of the injured prisoners after the first trial's results, as prisoner 10, or Kotoko, beat them pretty badly. This however, angered Amane Momose (the 12-year old).

Shidou was voted innocent on both of his trials, which I agreed with. I do think there is some imagery in the first video that could imply he tried using other people's organs to try and keep his wife alive, but it's not been confirmed yet.

After the second trial, however, Amane murders Shidou, which leads to Mahiru's death as well, as he was the only one capable of helping her. In his interrogation questions for trial 2, he mentions how Amane is starting to worry him, and that he wants someone to keep an eye on her, but he's the only one that could. If someone just watched Amane we might still have Shidou and Mahiru.

Shidou's story is interesting, but also seems like he was imprisoned for doing his job, but we won't know the whole story until his third trial comes out, which will most likely be in December 2025 or early January 2026.
