Florence Road is a fresh band based in Ireland and they only have one EP out and are steadily releasing new music. They rose to fame primarily on TikTok by singing covers of songs. The vocals of the lead singer are what really grabbed my attention.
This song in particular resonates pretty well with me.
A lot of the lyrics reference having these kind of feelings inside, but not knowing exactly where they are coming from. These feelings seem to be more about shifting moods, and specifically what I focused on, are the possible connections to BPD and the issues that a lot of people with BPD face.
The main lyric that fully echoes this idea of Splitting (where the person with BPD sees a person or situations in extremes only, all good or all bad) are: Is there something inside of me / Making me believe / That black is white" At first it might not read like that, but this idea of splitting can easily make someone with BPD completely flip on a loved one, turning their devotion into hatred.
It might be a reach, but there are some cycles in people with BPD that show them regretting their actions when they split, or if they have an outburst, and these lyrics also lean into that. "I don't wanna feel like I did yesterday"
I really like this band, and they have some very interesting songs with some fun topics.
