This song is another one of my favorites from Slayyyter's Starf*cker album. It is the 6th song on the album, and is another one of the more vulnerable songs.
The chorus starts the song: "I wanted to believe in love, it's hard / Glitter that I cry like fallin' stars/ Take what's in my chest and leave your mark / You just wanna wear my rhinestone heart" What I think is interesting is that she's upset that this person only wants her for the status that she brings, but I found that the fact the heart is rhinestone to begin with very interesting.
The album name leads to this thought, this person wants her for her status, Starf*cker, is a term for people who like to sleep with celebrities only for the status that it could give them. Slayyyter is by no means a mega celebrity (sorry), but she still has some status and this person was trying to take advantage of her.
Rhinestone's are fake stones, and so her heart being made of rhinestones is interesting. It's like she's saying her heart is fake, or decorative. This person wants this decorative heart for the status it brings and the look.
My brain isn't working too well right now, but I really like the imagery and lyrics she uses throughout this song. :)
