Muu's third trial has finally been released, and it's made her story even more interesting than before. It also gives the complete report of Muu's crime and her life, so not much is left to speculation, other than if she's guilty or innocent.
The main things I want to comment on how much more story we get from this video about Muu and how she's grown as a character through MILGRAM.
In this video we see more about the girl she murdered, and why she murdered her. We know from the other videos that these two girls, Muu and Rei, went to school together, but this video really clarified their relationship. Muu was really just given the role of "Queen Bee" throughout life. her natural beauty gave her this privilege, and she did not once question it. All of the people in her school gave her this status, except for the new girl Rei.
Rei was a transfer student and didn't adhere to the hierarchy and was bullied relentlessly. Muu didn't say anything to make the other kids bully her, but she also never stopped it. Rei never let it get to her, at least she never made a scene, until one day she hits Muu in the face with a chair, in front of everybody. Muu cried and vomited from the shock, and the whole hierarchy shifted, with Muu on the bottom. Her breaking point was when Rei only spared her a single glance, not saying anything about her situation. Muu followed her after school and killed her with a box cutter.
When I first saw this video and read the report I was shocked. Not only was the music good, but because of how raw it showed Muu and how different the video was from her second trial. We didn't see the insect form of Muu, and she was much more reserved. Outside of the music videos, her and the first prisoner, Haruka had formed a relationship (not a healthy one). Haruka had tried to tell the guard/the audience that if we do not vote Muu innocent on her second trial, he would kill himself. Muu was voted Guilty and Haruka followed through.
This video is a mix of Muu recounting her crime, but also completely making fun of and being angry at the audience for what happened to Haruka. The very end of the song has a callback to her first trial, "Pain" and I loved it when I first heard it, but instead about her being bullied or hurt, its her entirely defending Haruka and talking down to the audience for letting him die.
I thought the growth was very interesting, how from what we knew about her from her second trial, at least, she was a very selfish girl, and her dedicating the ending of her song to this boy she met shows a lot of growth. She's angry at us for letting Haruka died, and wants us to apologize to him for what we did. It's even more manipulation, but I think the fact she's trying to use it for someone other than herself is... commendable? In some weird twisted way? She even admits to being the villain-- to being guilty because of what happened to Haruka, which also shows growth from her second trial.
I think this is one of my favorite songs and videos from MILGRAM as a whole, and I can't wait for the next video.
